At the border of Danube Ipoly National Park – Jenöi-tó in Diósjenö

Two years ago at the end of summer 2019 we had travelled to this little fishermen’s lake at the bottom of the Northern Mountains of this National Park. I remember that our little one fell fast asleep in the car just the minute when we arrived to the village and in order to keep her sleeping we just drove around and enjoyed the view. Apart from great mountain views this litte lake got my attention and i promised myself I will come back one day. This weekend we came back. Unfortunately again not at right time; it was high noon and full sunshine – truly not the best conditions for photographing but still ……

These are now my impressions from a lake at the border of Danube Ipoly National Park – Jenöi-tó in Diósjenö.

In Diósjenö, at the very western end of the village, you can start wonderful hiking trails up into the mountains.

I took a shot from OSM just for those who are not that familiar with central Europe’s National Parks. The Danube Ipoly National Park (Donau-Eipel-Nationalpark) is one of the most diverse parks along the Danube. It spreads across the Danube and the Ipoly Rivers, it unites the Pilis-Visegrád Hills, Börzsöny, Ipoly Valley and the Danubian part of the Great Plain in one unit and got a wide diversity of fauna and flora.
